AboveNet Announces Network Pact with PAXIO

FTTH Provider teams with AboveNet in SF Bay Area

NEW YORK, April 6, 2007  – AboveNet, Inc,  a leading provider of fiber based connectivity solutions for business and carriers,  announced an agreement with PAXIO Inc. of Anaheim, California for optical network facilities in the San Francisco Bay Area.  AboveNet’s network facilities throughout the San Francisco Bay Area incorporate key business locations, data centers, carrier hotels, and IP PoPs providing PAXIO a greater footprint and more opportunities to serve new residential communities and business centers. The combination of last mile services from PAXIO and AboveNet’s metro network results in a high performance end-to-end network infrastructure.

PAXIO has developed an industry leading open architecture, standards based, FTTH (Fiber to the Home) network supporting highly desirable symmetrical speed Internet access and VoIP services with video planned for later this year.  PAXIO delivers Internet connectivity at speeds from 1 megabit to 1 gigabit per second to residential subscribers in select communities throughout the Bay Area.  PAXIO’s fiber business services also are available in Brentwood, Emeryville, Mountain View, Oakland, San Jose, Santa Clara and Sunnyvale.  The completion of a complete end-to-end fiber network creates community services second to none.

“Partnering with AboveNet allows us to push our ‘True Broadband. True Choice.’ package of services into more communities and business centers throughout the Bay Area,” said Phillip Clark, President of PAXIO. “AboveNet’s network assets and the partnership with PAXIO will result in the delivery of superior fiber optic services to more residences and businesses.”

“Integrating our scaleable, reliable and low latency Bay Area metro network with PAXIO’s local last mile to housing communities combines our core strengths into a unified platform, said Paul Dufek, Director of Strategic Initiatives for AboveNet.  “That platform can deliver high performance capability to end users for fiber optic based services and content.”
