AboveNet Expands dcXchange
Washington, DC & Northern Virginia Locations Added

NEW YORK, May 16, 2006 – AboveNet, Inc., a premier metro access provider of custom fiber solutions, today announced the launch of dcXchange, a data center to data center service delivering high performance connections over a dedicated DWDM core network, between prime locations in the Washington, D.C. & Northern Virginia market.  dcXchange is a pre-provisioned service delivering DWDM, SONET and Gig E connections for Enterprise, Carrier and Indirect Sales customers.  Supported by AboveNet’s Global Network Management Center, dcXchange offers simplicity and unsurpassed flexibility to support a broad range of applications for media and entertainment,  wireless backhaul, financial and banking industries as well as large bandwidth federal government requirements.

dcXchange will be generally available in Washington, D.C. and Northern Virginia  on May 16, 2006 with follow on cities to be announced shortly.

“With the cost of collocation facilities increasing sharply, dcXchange delivers virtual collocation to carriers by connecting key sites for seamless integration,” said John Deering, Director of Carrier Sales for AboveNet.  “The virtualization of scarce collocation space across the metro area is a key feature of our offering.”

AboveNet is targeting applications requiring high bandwidth, quick install times, and circuit portability for customers located in data centers and carrier hotels who are faced with the challenges of connecting their mission critical locations with a highly reliable, dedicated, secure network.

“Washington, D.C. is a high bandwidth area with federal agencies and large contractors requiring connectivity to accomplish their mission in a cost effective manner,” said Luke Fox Sales Director for Northern Virginia.  “dcXchange is a perfect fit to accommodate high bandwidth needs with pre-deployed, plug and play WDM, SONET and Gig E capabilities.”

“Demand from new customers in the Northern Virginia market is being met by AboveNet through our Indirect Sales Channel,” said MaryBeth Nance, Director of Business Development.  “We are delivering core metro services to businesses and ensuring greater access to key data center locations through dcXchange.”  “dcXchange delivers fast connections to bring up networks quickly and in a high quality manner supports business continuity and disaster recovery requirements which are an essential component of doing business today.”
