Speedera Networks Selects AboveNet for Co-Location in Seven Data Centers

Leading On-Demand Application and Content Delivery Services Company Increases Network Flexibility And Access To Powerful IP Network

White Plains, NY, June 9, 2004 - AboveNet, Inc., the leading provider of integrated access services to leading edge enterprises and service providers, announced today that Speedera Networks, a leading global provider of on-demand distributed application and content delivery services, will expand its presence in seven AboveNet data centers throughout the United States.
Speedera will co-locate its Points of Presence (POPs) in AboveNet data centers in San Jose, New York City, Seattle, and Virginia. The move further enlarges Speedera’s presence in these major metropolitan areas. Speedera will utilize AboveNet’s IP network to run distributed application hosting and whole site delivery services, including Web, downloadable digital media, and streaming media content.

Speedera has been rated the second fastest growing private company in Silicon Valley for the last three years, according to the San Jose Business Journal and PricewaterhouseCoopers. It has ridden the wave of utility computing, providing outsourced services that allow customers to take advantage of an extensible platform for on-demand distributed computing. These solutions include digital delivery, e-commerce, site security, e-business continuity, infrastructure management, and business intelligence.

“It is extremely important to a company like ours to be able to set the level of control we have in the data center, but also to match that with the best performing, most secure facilities,” Ajit Gupta, President and CEO of Speedera Networks, said. “The ever-expanding footprint of our existing infrastructure gives customers improved global performance, greater scalability to handle peak loads, and increased availability.”

“Having experienced rapid growth and great success for its on-demand services, Speedera needed to feel confident in its choice of a data center partner,” Bill LaPerch, AboveNet President and CEO, said. “We believe the investments we’ve made in our network and data center facilities positions us as the world class provider capable of delivering the speed and flexibility Speedera needs to stay on pace.”
